Top web design: It's not inside, it's on top!

Good web design results in pages that appear in the Top 10 of search engine rankings. The pages are not hidden in a huge pile of thousands of 'other' pages. They are not inside, they are on top!

Many, perhaps most, make bad web design choices. Some realize they have done so. For example when they find that their sites have no good rankings on the search engines. This leads to furious arguments with the web design company. But if the issue has not been specified in the development agreement...

More frequently, they do not realize their mistakes and wrongly conclude that the lack of visitor traffic to their web sites is proof that the opportunities on the Internet are over-hyped.

The biggest mistake lies in web designs that look good to human eyes, but fail to take no account that search engines see web sites through very different eyes. As a result, the search engines put ugly (to them) web pages low down in their rankings, or do not list the pages at all.

The answer lies in choosing a web design company that understands the need to optimize web pages so that they also look good to search engines and, of course, that knows how to do so.

Just how does somebody who knows very little about the intricacies of web design choose a good developer? The simplest answer lies in the Cremora Web Design Test! Remember the old Cremora advertisement: "It's not inside, it's on top!"

Web design specialists who know WHAT needs to be done to get high search engine rankings, and HOW to do so, can surely manage to get high search engine rankings for their own web sites. If they cannot do it for themselves, why rely on them to do so for you?

The bottom line is to do a search for 'website design' or 'web design' on a search engine such as www.ananzi.co.za and check the results. The web design teams you are looking for are ON TOP of, not hidden INSIDE, the rankings.

The complexity of the search engine challenge is indicated by number of pages listed by Ananzi in response to searches for the following topics:

web site design 58 214 pages
trout fishing   6 221 pages
houses for sale 88 847 pages
web design 42 988 pages

If you want your site to get into the Top 10 listing (on top!) it can be done. But it takes a real understanding of how the search engines work. Would you be satisfied with lower listings? Do you ever look through thousands of search engine results? Does anybody? Is there any point in having web pages with low search engine listings?

Of course there are some web sites that do not rely on search engine rankings for high visitor traffic and do not need 'search engine friendly' web design. But they are very few and far between and almost certainly have high off-line advertising budgets. In any event, there are almost no web sites that will not benefit from additional traffic resulting from high search engine rankings.

The significance of high search engines should not be under-estimated. It is estimated that 60-80% of visits to web sites come via search engines. According to NetRatings. "Nine out of every ten Web users go to such a site (search engines and portals) every month, and are going there more frequently - nearly five times monthly."

Good web design can make a major difference to your search engine rankings and success on the Internet
